Versatile and very powerful.
This toy is essentially a rechargeable mid sized wand with a head designed for stimulation of the penis. The si9licone head is moulded with an open loop one one side which is slipped over the penis and directs the vibrations onto and around the penis. The other side of the head is conventional in shape so the wand is suitable for clitoral stimulation too.The toy is supplied with a USB charging lead which is pushed through the self-healing silicone skin at the end of the wand. The blue power light flashes when the wand is charging and is steady when fully charged. To avoid the toy being turned on by accident it features a travel lock. The power button needs to be held for a few seconds then released then pressed again to turn the toy on. Subsequent presses of the power button scrolls the wand through its 3 steady speeds and 4 patterns. Holding the power button down again turns the toy off.The vibrations are powerful. In fact even the slowest speed was too powerful for me. If I placed the loop across the tip of my penis it was actually painful. My personal preference would be to have a slower speed range as the overall effect was numbing rather than stimulating and I was unable to orgasm using this toy. I got the Power
My Power Play Massage Wand arrives in the usual light-hearted Lovehoney branded packaging. This always cheers me up with its tongue in cheek puns and double entendre. Exactly what you would expect from ‘the sexual happiness people’. I do indeed have a ‘lust for power’ so without further ado, I open up. Out of the box, the wand isn’t the prettiest toy I own. It reminds me of a matt black version of Sam, the eagle off the Muppet Show. Tall, slim and with a massive beak. Unlike an eagle though, this ‘beak’ is made from pleasantly soft silicon. I turn it on and slip my figures in for a quick test and sure enough it does feel powerful. I’m thinking I should add more juice before I get started. Last thing I want is the pre charge running out just as things start to get interesting.Maybe it’s me, maybe I’m just too dumb but I’m caught in a ‘can’t find the hole’ moment which nobody wants during sexy times. A quick call to the excellent Lovehoney customer services advises me that the USB charger connects via a ‘self-sealing’ input at the base of the unit (between the DC and 5V), so I don’t need to completely pull out the whole rubber bung as I was tempted to do. Even so, I had to push the end of the charger pretty hard to get it in. Hoping this isn’t a weakness in the future.All revved up and ready to go, I concentrate first around the head with one of the wand’s wings teasing the frenulum. This immediately feels so good. A quick press on the easy to locate button in the handle to increase intensity, and again. Now it feels really good and I’m suddenly really hard. The top of the unit flexes to keep just the right amount of pressure applied. So, a little more lube and slip the loop around my shaft. It feels nice and tight around my 5.5 inch girth and slides really well, slowly up and down as I cycle through the slightly limited range of patterns. The silicon handle is comfortable too, just about the right size for my man hands and given the strength of the vibrations up top, there is minimum transmission down to the grip. Avoiding RSI is always a priority for self-pleasure. Pretty soon though I’m concentrating back on the head with the constant buzz on maximum intensity. There are little ridges on the inside of the wand’s wings which again focus directly on the frenulum. The raised pattern extends all the way around the inner curve of the massager. The strength of the vibration across the tip feels incredible as I slide it ever so slowly left and right. I don’t normally climax quickly, but the ‘power’ brings me to and past that point with record speed.Being waterproof, silicon and with minimal nooks and crannies, the wand is easy to clean and dry. Operation is so simple with only one, really easy to locate and reasonably sized button. You can’t go backwards through the patterns though, eg to decrease intensity, but as there are only seven variations in total, this wasn’t a problem. There is a travel lock to which to date I haven’t accidentally activated, something that frustrates me with some of my other toys. It is quite loud, but this is something I quite like although it will obviously be an issue for some. I’ve also used it on a male partner who enjoyed this alternative to hand stimulation. I enjoyed using it on them too, very relaxing for the giver. Who knows, it might even work with the female anatomy, like a rapidly flicking tongue. This has a lot of surprisingly amazing reviews, so I was really excited to try it, but to be honest I just found it a little odd and underwhelming. I have a normal length and girth (maybe a fraction girthier than average) but I’m not sure it quite fit. I also found the orientation a little strange. So you’d assume that this is how it was meant to be used, but then the handle of the wand is now in line with your body, which (hard to explain) but is awkward to hold and use. It’s far more comfortable to hold when it’s horizontal with your body, but again it just doesn’t feel nice this way. I finished, but I’m not sure that it was due to this you, or in spite of it. So I’m a little confused by this, and not sure I’ll be in a rush to use again. Just ended up feeling a little underwhelmed and disappointed in what could have been.

Game changer
I ordered the Power Play after reading a review on thebiggayreview site (who gave it a 10). I’m using the Pulse Solo as a comparison since I thought that was a game-changer! The Power Play is incredibly lightweight and not unwieldy. The silicone “wings” wrap around my shaft, and I can use the wand to maneuver the wand to find the sweet spots. There’s only one button strategically located on the “shaft” of the wand” to turn on/off and change among seven modes (vibration strength, different patterns). I’ve found other toys with multiple buttons, remote, and too many niche settings to be distracting and can kill the mood. The battery life is amazing – advertised as 90m and can charge in 2.5h. The charging port is hard to find at first and can be very frustrating as the instructions are not clear. I was afraid of breaking it. You need to twist the bottom of the wand with a lot of pressure in order to access it. It’s a proprietary USB-A cable so don’t lose it. (One general wish for all toys is that they moved to USB-C!) It doesn’t give the same unique intensity/feeling of orgasm as the Pulse, but it’s fantastic nonetheless!

I bought this based on the reviews. I gave it three stars not because it deserves three stars but because I haven’t experimented with it enough yet to see what its potential is for me personally. Can say that I’m going to continue exploring. I’ll add that it does get me hard quickly and will keep me there. The sensations are quite pleasant when you find the right one. Powerful but not subtle
I bought this when it was on sale so did not pay full price, and have now used it a couple of times.My first attempt wasn’t so good – the cup was too small for my shaft and I found it pretty awkward to use. It did work well to get me very hard before using a different toy to finish up.My second attempt I worked out that if you use it from underneath then your shaft presses into the cup without needing encouragement and the whole thing works much better this way.The one downside is it is quite noisy and not very subtle. The vibration patterns are varied and give a good range of stimulation.I’d recommend this, if you can get it discounted.

I had an older version of this made by another company that died a while back. I found this version different but nicely updated. The vibration strength is better, and it starts on the lower level, not the highest, which my older one did. I almost never moved off that highest setting on that old one, but this one builds nicely. My older version had more vibration settings, but I find the variety on this version better.
