I don’t usually go for this style of suspender belt. Whenever I see them shown in ads they’re always shown worn low on someone with relatively slim hips, and as someone whose hips are the widest part of their body this is something straight from the depths of my worst and most unflattering nightmares – until I was sent this, my underwear drawer only had high waisted, structured belts in, and I had planned it to stay that way for the foreseeable future. As I was sent this as a secret tester I had no idea what it looked like. When I unwrapped it I wasn’t so much disappointed as a bit wary – it came plainly packaged in a clear plastic bag, and when I unfolded it it I realised it was a straight belt style. Still, there’s a first time for everything and while it wasn’t something I’d have bought myself the quality was pretty good – the lace has a lot of stretch to it while still being soft, it fastens with a satisfyingly clicky hook and eye system, there weren’t any loose threads or scratchy pieces and the suspender straps were felt securely sewn on. It also came with a cute metallic Lovehoney heart stitched onto the front, but if that’s not your thing it could easily be unpicked. I was really pleased with the sizing; to me it seems accurate and the stretchiness of the lace means that if you’re between sizes you probably won’t have an issue finding a good fit – I picked the medium as I’m an hourglassy 10/12, sometimes 14 depending on the cut of an item and how many biscuits I’ve been eating lately, and it fitted perfectly. When I had it up high along my ribcage I fastened it on the smallest hook and eye and it was a little loose, but not enough to ride up or crinkle, and when it was over my tummy/hips I moved it up a notch and it stayed in place without budging. No complaints on that front! I was actually very surprised at how flattering, versatile and comfortable this was. I think, overall, I prefer wearing it fastened up over my ribcage with mid-rise pants and a soft bra so there’s a few inches of soft bare skin between each section of fabric, but wearing lower it over my hips and tummy looked much better than I expected – it even made my bum look a bit rounder, which is a miracle. It’s also reasonably practical for what’s essentially a length of lace; it doesn’t fall out of shape or move around once you start moving, I couldn’t spy the lace texture under a skirt, and the suspender straps are long enough when fully extended that I can still wear this around my waist and have my stockings fully attached, which sounds obvious but I’ve bought a few in the past that have bizarrely short ones. It hasn’t quite made me a convert to this style of suspender belt, but it’s encouraged me to incorporate a little more variety into my lingerie drawer and overall I’m chuffed to bits. Perfect for those who are insecure about their tummy
I’ve never worn one of these thicker, ‘deep’ suspender belts so I was interested to see how it would look on me. I’ve often thought this style of suspender belt would be uncomfortable, but as usual I was wrong! Don’t be fooled by the price. Lovehoney always use very high quality materials and this belt is no exception. The lace is so so soft and not scratchy at all. The suspender straps are soft and silky yet strong and the clips are comfortable, smooth plastic. The belt feels a lot higher quality than others in the price range and the build quality is flawless, with obvious consideration given to both comfort and function. This belt straddles the line between a purely decorative suspender belt and a function over form, everyday suspender belt to give you the best of both. Putting the belt on was a little tricky, but I’m wondering if it’s something that will become easier with practise. I usually put suspender belts on backwards by fastening the hooks at the front then spinning it round my hips to sit the right way. Doing this with a belt that features eight hooks doesn’t work terribly well. Actually, whatever way you put the belt on it’s hard to get all of the hooks in the clasp at once! The fit was absolutely perfect. I got this in a size medium and am a size 10-12 (12 on the bottom) with soft hips and a mummy tummy. I wore the belt on the loosest clasp and the fit was spot on. No muffin top, no looseness, just a perfect and very comfortable fit. In fact, I’ve never had a suspender belt hide my little chubby tummy so well! I really did look slimmer/more toned, with the shape of the belt drawing attention to and emphasising my hourglass figure and giving me a lovely sleek silhouette. In short, it looked amazing! I would imagine size 10 ladies would find the tighter holes to be a perfect fit too. Being true to size is probably the best thing I’ve come to love about Lovehoney’s own brand of lingerie! An interesting thing I noticed with the back clasp was that because of the amount of hooks and clasps, it actually felt like it was boned and gave some well appreciated back support. An unexpected bonus indeed! Because of the design, I found this belt could only really sit in once place on your hips. This means you can’t move it higher or lower on your hips to accommodate different lengths of stockings. I still found the belt worked for most of my stockings though. If the stocking tops were anywhere between the middle and the top of my thigh the belt was able to hold them no problem, though the suspender straps do stretch and could potentially hold up stockings that sit a little lower than that too. Not much lower though or the stretch would either pull the belt down or ping the clips off! Stockings that sit just above the knee would be too short, in my opinion, to work well with this belt. The clips may be plastic, but they don’t feel cheap or brittle the way many do and they actually do a very good job of holding stockings up. I haven’t had any problems with stockings falling down or clips pinging off either in the bedroom or out and about during prolonged wear. I was able to use both very thin, sheer stockings and thick, opaque ones and the clips accommodated them with ease. So, yeah. I felt really awesome in this belt! It was flattering beyond all expectations and easier to move about in that I thought it would be. I thought it might have that corset type effect of digging in when you bend over, but it sits as comfortably as any regular pair of high waisted underwear. It’s lovely to wear under clothing and because it’s more substantial than the usual thin belts it gives you more of a feeling of security that your belt isn’t suddenly going to cease holding up at the wrong moment. If you’ve tried suspender belts in the past and found you had trouble with the muffin top effect, I would highly recommend you check this one out. It’s a lovely addition to any wardrobe and perfect for those less confident days, where you’d like to feel a little more covered up in your lingerie. Great all round suspender belt 🙂

Very sexy
This is my first experience of a suspender belt, I usually have briefs with attached or removable suspenders. Initial reaction on removing the suspender belt from the packing was WOW, just gorgeous. Very soft feeling and quite stretchy. Beautiful black bow and Lovehoney charm on the front is a lovely detail. Lovely finish to all the stitching, a real quality piece. 3 columns of hooks and eyes at the back allow for plenty of adjustment to get the perfect fit. The adjustable sliders for the stockings worked easily with a quality feel. Initially the stocking clips were very stiff and difficult to open, but after a couple of times they were fine. They hold the stockings up securely and comfortably. Putting the belt on backwards to do it up then sliding it around into place was easy and attatching the stockings was a bit fiddley but then it always is! The hooks and eyes were set on the widest option and it fitted perfectly and comfortably with no lumps and bumps over the top. Oh my did I feel sexy. Hubby thought so too when he got an eye full. When it came to his part in the test, well lets just say he had no trouble in getting them off easily! As for the sizing of the product being a size 12/14, 33″ waist and 39″ hips the medium was a perfect fit.

Perfect for all occassions
I was sceptical at first buying this, since I am clearly nothing like the model in the picture. I’m a size 12/14 and bought a M, it is wonderful! with the adjustable hooks at the back it is snug but doesn’t dig in at all. Fits perfectly
I’m always a little concerned about ordering a small in lingerie as although I’m a size 10 I do have more of a wobble than I’d like on my hips which can leave an unsightly bulge where material digs in – but not in this case. The material is beautifully feminine and soft and the deep/wide design means it perfectly covers your hips whilst accentuating your waist and bum. I found it fit me perfectly on the tightest setting so I would be a little concerned, if someone was a size 8 with slim hips, that this might not fit as snug as they would expect… overall a beautiful addition to my lingerie collection at an exceptionally reasonable price.

Inspired idea
Well, a round of applause for whoever came up with the idea of a longer suspender belt. It is just so pretty with the lacy detail, but it is truly a treat if you have a large tummy that you wish to conceal. I could imagine it would feel quite functional if it was just one solid block of black material, but the nearly see-through nature of the fabric almost makes it feel like a naughty tiny skirt, rather than something purely to conceal wobbly bits. I’m a size 16, and I bought the large, but I can only just comfortably get it done up on the loosest set of clips, just something to consider if you have a large tummy or are between a size 16 and 18.

For the quality, fit and material I’d have expected to have paid a lot more for this. However that is the beauty of Lovehoney compared to other outlets. The lace has a little bit of give so it contours to your shape nicely. It covers and leaves bare just enough. The charm on the front is a nice touch and doesn’t look tacky. The material seems to be quite hardwearing but very soft and overall it is very well made. If I had to be really picky the only downside of this I can see is that it takes a couple of minutes to put on as there are a lot of hooks to do up. However due to its size that is understandable.
