Scary but fun
I was lucky enough to be selected to test this product before it hit the shelves (or should that be webpage’s?) of Lovehoney so here is my unbiased opinion! As always it came in the discreet brown jiffy bag, giving no hint of what is inside! The product itself comes in a plain card box and inside we find a plastic wrapper and tissue paper protecting the product. Once unwrapped, the first thing I thought was ‘wow, this looks scary’! It was originally used to test nerve reactions in the medical profession but then I think it kind of looks like something you might find in your kitchen utensil drawer! The Pinwheel itself is quite weighty and feels very well made from its stainless steel construction. The wheel isn’t as sharp as I expected, which actually I was quite relieved about, having never tried one before. So, playtime! The first thing I noticed whilst holding it was how cold it was and that you could use it for cold sensation play with the handle. But of course its main aim is the spikes! So what to do with it? I ran it up and down my arms a few times, then my hands and it felt quite relaxing (not what I expected) it doesn’t leave any marks and it was kind of therapeutic. However I then tried pressing more firmly and that is where it gets interesting. When pressure is applied it becomes a bit more intense, the wheel leaves temporary marks along the skin and you can actually make some pretty patterns whilst you are at it! It does hurt a little as you may expect but not too painful. This is a toy where you would really have to trust your partner with and communication is key as I think it is all about the suspense and build up of the sensation. Using it on sensitive areas such as nipples or genitals means you need to be careful but running it lightly along the shaft of my penis was pretty interesting and arousing, although I was a little wary at first. All in all I think this is a great toy for beginners as it is great quality and an easy introduction into medical play.

I am no stranger to Bondage Boutique, I own a multitude of their products, but this is the first pinwheel I have had from them, thanks to Lovehoney chosing me to test and review the product on their behalf. The Bondage Boutique Stainless Steel Wartenberg Pinwheel doesn’t come in any fancy packaging, just a simple, clear plastic bag. It would have been a bonus if it came in some kind of storage box. I don’t know about others, but how the heck do you store your pinwheels? At the moment, I’m storing it in a Lovehoney bondage bag, the material is thicker, so there is less chance for the pins to poke through. Back to the wheel….This pinwheel is quite a weighty little number, due to the thickness off the handle and just oozes quality. The wheel itself features 21 evenly spaced sharp pins and can be easily controlled by the ergonomic handle, which has ridges to aid gripping. I own a few variations of pinwheels, mainly with multiple of rows of pins, but I find that the single pinwheel offers me more sensation, as the power is driven through one wheel, rather than several. I like to use my pin wheel in BDSM scenes. There are many uses, from simply rolling across various body parts, whilst you control the pressure, to popping the wheel in a glass of ice and then used to roll over a freshly spanked or flogged bottom. The added cold sensation, will see you sub squirming and wriggling at your touch! Stainless steel is body safe and doesn’t rust. You can sterilize the pin wheel after each use, to ensure it is thoroughly cleaned. The Whartenberg pinwheel might look a bit sadistic but it’s really not. I love using this having it being ran down my body, just very lightly, making areas more sensitive than they already are. Unexpected winner

I bought this wheel because I was scared about buying the 3 wheel one, I shouldn’t have worried at all. The spikes are small and not particularly sharp but as with everything it’s how you use it. The pin wheel arrived on time and was discretely packaged. It seems good quality well weighted. My hubby and myself both have very sensitive ticklely backs and we’re wondering how the cold prickle of the wheel would feel. I’ve always been curious to try one of these, so when i saw a good deal I snapped this up! I love that my partner and I can both use this toy. We both really enjoy the sensations the wheel causes on various parts of our bodies (and the little marks it leaves too). Is especially fun to use after impact play – the intensity is ramped up then! The downside is that the wheel is quite squeaky and sometimes it gets stuck (stops spinning; we have to stop play to adjust it). Was like this right from the first day we used it. I own a lot of pinwheels as they are one of my favourite type of kink toys. This is a more traditional style of pinwheel, but that doesn’t make it any less fab. Looking at this product I thought NOPE that weapon of torture is going nowhere near me. My partner had purchased it and I certainly had my reservations. So I got this a few weeks ago and finally put it into action last night, after the Mrs spent some time using a paddle and crop on me.
